A few weeks ago, I got to head back out to Bay Village, OH to photograph Kamran’s lifestyle in home newborn session.  I feel so privileged that I was able to be there before his arrival for his parents’ maternity session, at the hospital on the day he was born, and back to the hospital to capture the first few days he got to spend with his parents and now, as they have settled in at home as a family.

The arrival of your first born is one of the most memorable times in your life and yet it seems that we forget those first few weeks so quickly.  Those sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, feeding marathons, and snuggles seem so far away.  My baby is only 1o months, but I already am forgetting his newborn smell. This is why I feel newborn photography is so special.  Someday, when Kamran is grown and doesn’t want to hug his mom in front of his friends, she will be able to look at her album and remember that he used to want to do nothing BUT cuddle with her.  She can remember where she sat nursing him during those feeding marathons, where her and her husband paced the room trying to get him to fall asleep, and how she had his diaper changing station organized just so to make those endless diaper changes a little bit easier. One of my favorite songs is “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” by Darius Rucker (all you non-country people know him as Hootie!).  If you’ve never heard it, look it up.  The lyrics ring all too true to my husband and I and probably to the rest of you parents out there.  All you new parents take note, before you know it, those babies won’t be babies anymore.  I know it’s hard, (and for me it’s still hard), but it won’t be like this for long…
