“Though she be but little, she is fierce”
I have such an inspiring PICU photography session to share with you all today.
A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to head over to the PICU at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, OH and photograph sweet baby Emma and her amazingly strong family. (If you missed the first part of her story, be sure to check out the Detwiler family’s maternity pictures that I shared on Monday)
Emma is a 9 month old beautiful little girl who has been through so much in her young life. You see, while still in utero, she was diagnosed with PA-IVS & Hypoplastic Right Ventricle (HRHS), which is a rare congenital heart defect. Since her birth back in November, she has been on the long road to recovery and has triumphed through many surgeries and procedures, including a heart transplant back in February. She has been through so many ups and downs and endured many set-backs and complications. And yet, she continues to be strong – she continues to fight. I’m happy to report that Emma keeps improving every day and is just about ready to move out of the PICU and into rehab with the ultimate goal of going HOME!!! As the Shakespeare quote that has become Emma’s motto says… Yes, she may be little, but she is FIERCE.
I know that the last 9 months of ups and downs and unknowns have not been easy on Emma or her family, but I want them to look back on these photos and remember how strong they all were. How much they have been through together and how family, faith, and love can get you through even the most difficult times. I’m so thankful to have had the chance to give Emma and her family memories of her triumphs and I can’t wait to photograph them when they finally return home as a family.
If you want to find out more about Emma’s journey or for information on how you can help Emma and her family… visit the Team Emma Strong Facebook page or their Children’s Organ Transplant Association page at cotaforemmad.com. I know the family will appreciate all the thoughts and prayers they can get!
Thank you, Detwiler family, for choosing me as your photographer – I hope these photos will be a great reminder of how strong you and your baby girl are <3 .
If you or someone you know is going through a similar journey, please contact me about a PICU photography session, I would be honored to tell your story ❤
