Hi everyone! Today, you get to meet baby Gordon!
It was such a beautiful February day for a newborn session! The sun was shining and it was unseasonably warm outside. The kind of day that just makes you happy from the moment you wake up! I met Gordon and his parents, Catherine and Ryan, at their gorgeous Rocky River home when he was just over 2 weeks old for his newborn photography debut! When I got there, Ryan showed me around (so I could scope out the light), while Catherine was busy feeding Gordon and getting him to sleep. (Those built-ins in the dining room, by the way, are not original to the house. The previous owner put them in. Don’t they look like they’ve been there all along?!) Anyways, Gordon fought sleep as hard as he could, but Mom was able to work her magic and get him to sleep so we could get some super cute photos of him. Aren’t his little baby lips and wispy blond hair to die for?! So cute!!! And, his name suits him so perfectly, doesn’t it? I love when that happens! Side note, I love his name so much, I may have to steal it if I ever end up having another boy 🙂
I absolutely adore all of the sweet moments we captured of Ryan, Catherine, and Gordon in their first weeks as a family of 3. The newborn stage can be so tough, sometimes. It’s easy to forget the good memories. I’ve been there. During the session, Gordon was having a crabby moment so Catherine laid down on the couch with him on her chest in order to calm him. This brought back a flood of memories for me. My hubby and I spent weeks taking turns sleeping on the couch with our son on our chest just like that. It was the only way we could get him to sleep sometimes. At the time, it felt like it would never end. But, it did. And he grew up. Now, he’s 4 and I really wish I had a photo of me and him laying on the couch, just like the one I took of Catherine and Gordon. New parents, soak up these little moments.
Thank you Hartzell Family for choosing me as your newborn photographer. I am so happy to have been able to capture your story of your first weeks together as a family 🙂
