I met baby Avery at his Fresh 48 Session just a day after he was born (you can see that session here) and I was so excited to head to his first home in Rocky River, OH for his in home newborn session and see how much he had grown and how his Mom and Dad were loving parenthood so far. The answer: He grew a lot and had quite the little personality and Mom and Dad had the parenting thing down:)
One thing I love about in home lifestyle newborn photography is that the sessions do not have to be done when the baby is less than 10 days old. Since I do not do the sleepy poses on babies, if they don’t sleep during their session, it’s ok. Actually, sometimes I like it better. Waiting until the baby is a little older also means new parents have a little time to adjust to life at home with a newborn before they have to be “photo ready”. They get to know their baby, the details about him/her that they want captured, the way they like to be held, and what makes them happy. Avery was 5 weeks old at his session. He was so alert and even was throwing us some smiles:) He followed his parents’ voices and kept staring at that big, black lens I kept putting in his face. As a result of him being an “older” newborn, we were able to capture some great expressions and eye contact from him.
Mom and Dad did such a great job putting together his nursery, so we started our shoot in there. We were able to incorporate personal items such as 2 blankets that were made by Avery’s Grandma and get some great shots of Avery in his first room. We then moved into Mom and Dad’s bedroom to get some great family shots and then downstairs where all the grandparents were able to join in the shoot. Avery is the first grandbaby for all and I could tell how much in love they all were, I love that Candice and Matt wanted to include them in the session. Candice also mentioned in their questionnaire that they love just hanging out on their porch, so to end their session, we ventured out there to capture them doing what they love, relaxing with their new addition.
Thanks to Candice, Matt, and Avery for some great sessions!
