Not every pregnancy comes easily. When my husband and I were trying to get pregnant with our first son, I was so young and naive. I knew that as soon as I went off that birth control, it would happen. We had the timing all planned out. We had been married 2 years, we had a house, and we had jobs. We were so ready and excited for that next step in our lives. The first month, I was sure I was pregnant. I “felt” it. I was 2 days late, my breasts hurt, I was nauseous. This was it! I just knew it! I was so excited to take the pregnancy test and have happy news to share with my husband! It was negative. There was no happy news. Then, month after month, I would again get excited and gain hope, sure each time that I had all the signs. That THIS was the month I would get that positive. And each time I would get that negative result on the test was torture. The disappointment, the sadness, the failure. In reality, we conceived relatively quickly (about 6 months and believe me, I know how lucky we are), but to me, it felt like an eternity. I can not imagine what 3 years of that would feel like.
Jaime and Larry had to go through just that. Three years of disappointment. Three years of negative pregnancy tests, blood draws, shots, and procedures. Three years of wanting and hoping. Three years of waiting for the moment when they got to see their son for the first time. Jaime is a labor and delivery nurse herself, so I can only imagine how happy it made her to finally be able to leave the hospital with a baby of her own in her arms. And I think Ryland knows how long his mom and dad have been waiting for him because he is the sweetest, most well behaved little man. I only managed to get one little glimpse of his eyes because he slept the entire time! He has such little, adorable features. A sweet little nose, tiny little lips, and the cutest little feet! And, I love all the thought and time that went into his nursery. His Grandma even made the pillows on the bed, so I love that we got to incorporate all the details!
Yost family, I am so honored to have been able to capture these newborn photos for you! I hope you will always enjoy looking back at the first few weeks as a family of three!
