Hey guys! Remember gorgeous Greylen from her fresh 48 session? Well, today I’m sharing her in home newborn photos and they are just as gorgeous! I loved everything about this session: baby Grey, her adorable parents, Rachel and Ben, their sweet little pup, Clementine, the stunning nursery, the coffee 🙂 , and the overall “realness” we captured.
But my absolute favorite thing about this session happened moments after I entered their lovely Strongsville home. Rachel and I were talking about the clothes she had picked out for baby Grey to wear for her photos when she spoke a sentence that was like music to my ears. No, really! I’m pretty sure I heard happy music in my head 🙂 . She said, “I just wanted to make sure that she looks like a baby.” YES!!!! Now, don’t get me wrong, I still say “Awwwww” when I see a cute photo of a baby posed in a basket with props. They look so sweet curled up and dressed like a ladybug (or bunny, or bear, or superhero, etc…). These types of photos can be done so beautifully. BUT, that’s not how I remember my newborns. I remember them in onesies and sleepers, curled up on my chest (because that’s the only place they would sleep). I remember needing to bounce them for hours just to get them to fall asleep, only to lay them down and have them wake right up and then have to start the process all over again. I remember the only way I could get them to sleep on their own was when they were swaddled up nice and tight. I remember all the coffee my husband drank (this was before my coffee loving days 🙂 ). I remember being at the changing table for hours every day, thankful that I took the time to organize my changing station before the baby was born. I remember all the time and thought I put into every single item I decorated the nursery with and all the cards from friends and family congratulating us on our newest arrival displayed in my living room. I remember that sometimes cuddling up on the couch with my husband and my baby would be just the thing I needed at that moment.
Rachel and Ben, I know that these will be the moments that you always remember, too. And I’m so glad that you chose me to capture them for you.
Thank you, Rachel and Ben, for choosing me as your newborn photographer. It was awesome working with you guys!
