I’ve always known that Fresh 48 sessions were something special. From the very first time I photographed one and at every session since, I’ve reveled in the joy of each and every hospital room I enter. Getting to witness Mamas staring at their new baby with awe, new Dads who are still learning how this new tiny babe fits in their big arms, and siblings meeting for the first time are my are definitely a few of my favorite things about my job as a photographer. And also why I’ve always known that Fresh 48 sessions are closest to my heart. But, honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever fully understood just how special they are until I got the chance to experience seeing my own fresh 48 photos appear on my screen.
My husband and I welcomed baby boy #3 in December (which is why it’s been quiet around here and on my social media pages). Baby Theo is now 8 weeks old (how?!) and those two days we spent in the hospital getting to know him already feel like a lifetime ago. I can’t begin to explain how happy it makes me to know that I will forever have these photos to take me back to those moments and to someday show all my boys.
One of the first questions I got during my pregnancy after “Do you know what you’re having?” was the bigger question… “Who’s going to do your newborn photos?”. After briefly considering and quickly dismissing the idea of doing them myself (I can’t be in the photos if I’m the one taking them!), I decided to hire my friend Kelly over at Kelly Crews Photography. And it ended up being the perfect choice (it’s a hard decision to make when you have so many super talented photographer friends). I am absolutely blown away by the fantastic job she did with my older boys and also with the little bit of light our hospital room gave her to work with. I am SO, SO happy with the photos and I’m super excited to share them with you. Thank you, Kelly, for giving us these memories of our new family of five. I can only hope that my clients feel the same way I did when I saw my photos for the first time.
*I’m also excited to share lots of insight and tips on preparing for a Fresh 48 session, now that I got to experience one first hand – so be on the lookout for that post coming soon!*
